Kyounso — Matsukawa Onsen, Hachimantai
Nestled in primeval forest,
the milky sulfur spring
Matsukawa Onsen, Hachimantai, Iwate.
Tucked in a beech-forest valley
within Towada-Hachimantai National Park,
Kyounso stands in quiet serenity.
Milky sulfur spring water rising from the earth,
and seasonal cuisine crafted from mountain bounty.
Here, time flows gently —
that is the true luxury.

The Matsukawa spring is a rich, milky sulfur hot spring. In the open-air onsen, fed directly from the source, you can gaze at the surrounding primeval forest through the seasons and feel the earth's gift on your skin. The indoor and open-air onsen each offer their own distinct character.
We prepare seasonal dishes centered on Iwate's mountain vegetables, river fish, and local ingredients. Warm yourself from the inside with the honest flavors of the region.
